PHNOM PENH, December 21, 2011 (Cambodia Herald) - ASEAN Secretary General Surin Pitsuwan was scheduled to arrive in Cambodia late Wednesday for a three-day visit to discuss preparations for summit meetings of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2012.

"During the visit, he will discuss ASEAN work for 2012 with Cambodia as the ASEAN chair," said Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. 

In a statement, the ministry said Surin would have a working session with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh and Senior  Minister Sun Chanthol.

Surin will also have an audience with King Norodom Sihamoni and pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen, the statement said.

As ASEAN chair, Cambodia is scheduled to host a retreat for foreign ministers in Siem Reap on January 10-11 ahead of the annual ASEAN summit in April.
