Resort located on the Thai-Cambodia border, Centara Chaan Talay Resort and Villas Trat announced that recent conflict between Thai and Cambodian troops has not disrupted operations and it is still open for business.
A statement from the accommodation read that recent clashes between Thailand and Cambodia over the ownership of the Preah Vihear Temple has been confined to the inland locality of the temple and is unlikely to move toward coastal areas.?
“The resort hotel is located on the beachfront at Trat, the Thai province that adjoins the border with Cambodia, but Centara Hotels & Resorts wishes to make it clear that the dispute is many miles inland, and has involved only the Thai provinces of Sisaket and Surin, which also border Cambodia,” the statement read.
According to the source, dispute over the temple began after it was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Since the eleventh century the attraction has rotated between Cambodian and Thai ownership and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is working with leaders to reach an agreement.
