Thailand and Cambodia will continue to dialogue on Preah Vihear in the future, following the recent bilateral negotiations in Paris, France. Cambodia expressed belief that the World Heritage Committee (WHC) of the Organisation of Culture, Science and Education of the United Nations (UNESCO) will formally approve the management plan for Preah Vihear temple, in the Assembly the 35th annual meeting of the WHC in Paris in June.
Xinhua quoted Deputy Prime Minister Sok An said Cambodia: "Cambodia is full of legal documents to be recognized by the international community, to demonstrate that management plans be implemented Preah Vihear temple on Cambodian territory." Mr. Sok An also said that UNESCO appreciate Cambodia's plan for good quality and prepared in accordance with the standards. However, the Bangkok Post reported today the Minister of Environment and Natural Resources of Thailand Suwit Khunkitti confirmed UNESCO has yet to decide on the WHC has put the plan into consideration in Cambodia's annual conference next month or no.
Suwit He added that both countries will continue to hold more talks on the management plan of Cambodia at Preah Viear related to the disputed area 4.6 km2 wide around the temple, before jointly conference's 35 th annual WHC.
In response to this move, Deputy Prime Minister Sok An said Cambodia welcomed the ready the next meeting with Thailand, according to the arrangement of UNESCO, prior to the meeting place of the WHC.
Thailand and Cambodia have recently met in Paris for talks on issues surrounding Preah Vihear temple, according to the settlement of the Director General of UNESCO, Ms Irina Bokova.
International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling awarded ownership of Preah Vihear to Cambodia in 1962, but Thailand claims the 4.6 km2 area around the temple.Fighting the border between Thailand and Cambodia are frequent in recent years by troops of the two countries play each other too closely. according to vnexpress, May 29, 2011
