Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) has claimed that, to date, Thai soldiers have fired more than 50,000 (fifty thousand) 105mm and 155mm rockets deep into Cambodian territory since the fighting started on 22nd April. He added that the Thai shelling had caused the displacement of 45,200 Cambodians, but some of them have been allowed to return homes in the areas where the fighting had stopped. Prime Minister Mr. Hun Sen's claim was made during a speech at the 148th anniversary of the International Day of the Red Crescent in Phnom Penh this morning. He said during the fighting, Thai troops had fired more than 50,000 105mm and 155mm rockets into Cambodian villages, some of them reaching as far as 20km deep inside Cambodian territory. He said this figure did not include hundreds of rounds of 105mm rockets that Thai troops had fired at Cambodian troops at the frontlines. He had accused Thai troops of firing cluster bombs and poison gas at Cambodian troops. He also said that there are hundreds of unexploded shells littered in the Cambodian jungles and plains and is appealing to Cambodian demining teams to clear them so that villagers can return to their homes safely. In a separate development, during last night's fighting at Ta Krabey temple, DAP News quoted Thai media as reporting that one Thai soldier was killed and three wounded. The fighting started at 10pm and from 12 midnight Thai troops started shelling the Cambodian positions and territory until 5am in the morning.
