(Forimmediaterelease.net) Centara Chaan Talay Resort&Villas Trat is unaffected by the fighting along the Thai-Cambodia border and remains open for business as usual.
Announcement concerning Chaan Talay Resort and Villas Trat and the current border clashes between Thai and Cambodian troopsThe resort hotel is located on the beachfront at Trat, the Thai province that adjoins the border with Cambodia, but Centara Hotels&Resorts wishes to make it clear that the dispute is many miles inland, and has involved only the Thai provinces of Sisaket and Surin, which also borders Cambodia.
There have been a number of clashes this year between Thai and Cambodian troops, as tensions have escalated between the two countries over the ownership of Preah Vihear Temple, which is situated in Preah Vihear province, Cambodia.
The temple, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, dates back to the 11th century and during different periods has come under both Cambodian and Thai jurisdiction.
The military clashes are confined to the inland locality of the temple, and there is no reason to anticipate the trouble will spread to the coastal areas.
Both countries are members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), currently headed by Indonesia, which is attempting to mediate between the two.
