Yesterday, a passenger train rammed into another train was stopped a train station in southern India, killing at least seven people died.
BBC guide to sources from the local police said the accident happened at Arrakkonam train station, near Madras (Chennai), Tamil Nadu, the state capital. Indian television channels reported about 50 people were injured in the incident.
It is not clear how many people on the two trains. Emergency rescue teams have been dispatched to the scene to rescue victims. Talking to news agency AFP , a local police said, there are three carriages hurtling off the tracks after the collision.

According to local officials, five bodies have been pulled from the wreckage, while several others are believed to remain trapped between the carriages. The government warned the death toll could rise.
Accidents often occur in the railway system of India, with a vast network connecting every corner of this country. India has about 9,000 passenger trains and transport about 18 million passengers per day.
