An explosion occurred at a chemical plant in eastern China, killing at least 14 workers were killed and five others injured.

BBC quoted local official said the explosion occurred at a facility producing melamine in Tan Thai city, Shandong province. This is where the workers are to maintain and repair a condenser. The cause of the explosion has not yet been determined. Industrial accidents occur frequently in China and is often blamed on lax state of occupational safety measures.

Meanwhile, the news agency Xinhua said the accident occurred on Saturday afternoon (19/11). A government statement said Tan Thai city, this chemical plant under the Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. Shandong Liaherd. 4 workers died on the spot and 10 others died after being taken to hospital, while five people were injured are in stable condition. Authorities are exploring the cause of the blast.
Melamine is a nitrogen-rich chemical used to make plastics and other products. However, the news agency Xinhua said that no toxic substances released by the blast.
