I have been residing in Vietnam, Hanoi since h July 2010 till 24th July 2010), and have been learning a lot, not just only learning on media aspect as my specific skill, but also observing the ways of doing small business of everyday lives of Hanoi people, that it’s extremely interesting.
Firstly, I, My Sovann, would like to bring your attention to see my education, working background, and learning activities at Vietnam Association of the Elderly and the Elderly Newspaper in Vietnam. I’m a Cambodian who successfully graduated bachelor degree in 2009, specialist in Business English, since then I used to imagine to become an English teacher and a businessman, based on my work experience as a part-time English teacher and assistant of consultancy, especially worked with the private company. In 2008, I have been serving a job as a community organizer for HelpAge International-Cambodia, sine then the last 2009, funded by FK’s exchange program to Vietnam, for capacity building as a Media Officer at Vietnam Association of the Elderly in the period of time, ten months. During learning as a media aspects, I have been learning the variety specific skills such as Newspaper Production, Web design and will pursue further learning more on magazine production and Radio work as well. In learning process as a newspaper production, I took over four months to learn and to practice all the overall working systems – such as not only newspaper concepts, management, and production but also real practicing in each department to learn the nature of working environment as well; however, it’s not really easy to manage or to produce the newspaper because it involves with many human resources to work as a group, many materials requirement and other necessary programs in order to ease the work processes, but it does not mean that we cannot do. Even though, I also faced some challenges on learning due to language barrier and lack of accessible information on newspaper documents, due to majority of materials in Vietnamese Language. But the above mentioned, it’s extremely amazing career for me that I could not imagine that could be learned those. From those knowledge and skills, I do hope that the newest newspaper station would be established either just role to create some jobs or strive to disseminate the very useful information towards the public as well, especially the student.

Secondly, through up my observations of living in Hanoi for a period of times, Vietnamese traditional in doing a small business is quite interesting, you know what it’s categorically amazing and popular business, they just boil water by putting some tea with some other combination ingredients. At first, I was actually wondering why…why people always sit around the tables with tea pot and talk with each other about this and that, just at least 15 minutes. When the people sit and drink they have also chewing in mouth such as candy and many other kinds of fruits while they are drinking. Everywhere and almost every time, especially in the morning, afternoon and evening, selling tea on along the streets it becomes a habit of everyday business of some Vietnamese people. I also used to taste it with raising the sound – wow…it’s surely “Ngon Lam”, that why Vietnamese people like it so much. If you have never experienced with Vietnamese tea, you would never know how delicious taste it is!

In short, from what have learned and experienced here, I would be brought up the dramatically achievements for my future’s life direction.
