Fighting between Cambodian and Thai troops that started 5 days ago around Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples in Oddar Meanchey province has now spread to Preah Vihear temple in Preah Vihear province, 150 km away.

Cambodian army officers based in areas around Preah Vihear temple said that at around 1:40 p.m today, Tuesday 26th April, Thai troops started attacking Cambodian troops based at Phnom Trop and Chak Chreng areas, located 5km west of Preah Vihear temple.

The army officers indicated that at 1:50 p.m, Thai troops started firing DK-82 rockets into the Chak Chreng area.

Furthermore, a high ranking Cambodian officer indicated that at 01:35 p.m, Thai fighter jets were flying in reconnaissance over Ta Krabey temple.

According to frontline soldiers near Preah Vihear temple, the fighting had subsided at 1:56 p.m.

There are reports that as at 2:10 p.m today, there is no fighting in Ta Krabey and Ta Moan Thom temples. However, at 2:45 p.m Thai troops fired a number of rockets at Ta Moan Thom temple, hitting an unpaved road surrounding the temple compound, but there is no small-arms fight.
