First of all a VERY BIG CONGRATS to all of us, Up to now ( Thursday May 12th , 2011) a total of 555 organizations include NGOs- Associations inside Cambodia and International NGOs-CSOs outside Cambodia have endorsed the joint statement. An increase of 12 % compared to last week. More and more National and International organizations have joined our solidarity movement. Informally, we learnt the MOI and MOFA are working on a 3nd draft law . We also learned, with appreciation, that Development Partners are still meeting or requesting meeting with both Ministries and other senior government officials to share concerns on the 2nd draft and discuss possible impact of the law on the development of Cambodia and the democratic space of civil society in Cambodia as a whole. We have asked for the 3rd draft to be made public but were told that this is not possible and we didn’t get confirmation as to when the 3rd draft will be finished either. A tentative date for sending to the COM was also not given. Nonetheless, although status of law processing seemed to be still “on hold” position at this moment in time, there is no reason or firm official political statement that the processing of the draft law has stopped. In the light of this, it is critically important that we continue to intensify our advocacy work peacefully but meaningfully and in great solidarity. Endorsing this joint statement is one way of demonstrating you true belief in solidarity on such an important issue which affect the entire CSO community in Cambodia. Action required:

1. Please support the collective solidarity movement by saying sending a YES reply to lina.sophat@ccc-cambodia.org or info@ccc-cambodia.org with your name, your organization name and address as soon as possible.

2. Inform and encourage your partners/network organizations to sign up or coordinate a list of your networks/members and send to CCC via email above.

Note: Great appreciation are extended to those organizations who already endorsed and we would like to ask for your assistance in helping us to encourage your partners and members to support this joint statement.
